Springboard: Cultural Assembly for Creative Climate Action

SPRINGBOARD is a project of Creative Carbon Scotland to run local assemblies for creative climate action.  In the Scottish Borders in partnership with CABN and Connecting threads, SBCAN has been part of organising Springboard event themed on Active travel which was held in Walkerburn on September 5th, following on from an initial event in 2023.

An introduction from CABN, Connecting Threads and SBCAN was followed by an input from Angela at Hike and Bike about the Scottish Borders Walking and Wheeling Festival and a short presentation from Marina from the Tweed Forum on the new Tweed Trail which will go past Walkerburn.

This was followed by workshops which included:

·        Pathways for All- promoting Inclusion in Active Travel with Anneela McKenna

·        A Multi-sensory walk with Robbie Coleman and Jo Hodges- Connecting Threads Artists in residents.

·        Creative Active Travel workshop, led by Emma Whigman, R-Evolve and Kicc cycle club.

·        Funding for Active Travel Projects led by SBCAN.

The day enabled new conversations between people from local networks and organisations working on culture and climate change with the workshops and discussion times offering opportunities to learn together, share knowledge and information, and collaborate.

Forming this partnership to run this event with CABN and Connecting Threads has brought about a joined-up approach between our three organisations with a strong common commitment to Creative Climate Action that will lead to future projects together.

EastGate Theatre: Circular Economy workshop

The workshop was well attended, and it was a great way of engaging children and young people on the topic of the Circular Economy.
