Climate story map: paid opportunity

We have a paid opportunity for Scottish Borders Organisations to support our work with Climate Ready South East Scotland on their story map. Read on to find out more and express your interest before Monday 23rd September.

SBCAN are going to engage c. 4 - 5 local community-led organisations within the Scottish Borders, to collect and document community experiences specifically related to flooding, a significant issue in the region. The funds will help gather stories onto the map and also support the partner organisations in enhancing their capacity to address climate issues in their communities.

The project will run from now until January 2025.

The collected stories will be added to the Climate Ready South East Scotland Story Map, contributing vital local insights to the ongoing climate risk and opportunity assessment. While the primary focus of the stories is on flooding, the project will also encourage the sharing of other climate-related stories at existing community events, ensuring a comprehensive capture of the region's climate challenges.

Are you an organisation working in a flood prone area of the borders? Do you have existing events before January 2025 which you could incorporate data gathering and story sharing into or perhaps you are looking for a focus for your next event? Please do get in touch with us to express interest and find out some more information!

The stories gathered will help understand how extreme weather and climate change are affecting our communities. Climate Ready South East Scotland will then provide a detailed assessment of the climate risks and opportunities facing the Edinburgh and South East Scotland city region. The assessment will draw on the best available scientific data and evidence and the stories from communities across the region in sharing their experiences.

Please get in touch with sbcan@sup.org.uk to find out more and express your organisations interest. We look forward to hearing from you!

DEADLINE TO APPLY IS 23rd SEPTEMBER

The map is now open so have a browse and you can fill out the map with your stories to help us understand how extreme weather and climate change are affecting our communities! Check out the stories on there already from both the Scottish Borders and the other regions. Please do share the link with others!
