borders book festival
SBCAN were delighted to have a stand at the borders book festival which took place from 13th - 16th June. It was a wonderful event to be a part of. The book festival team have done many brilliant things to tackle the climate crisis including
The festival has a zero waste to landfill policy, meaning the festival and their suppliers do not use any single-use plastic or non-recyclable materials. They issue e-tickets to all our events, so no paper tickets are required, and have recycling bins available throughout the festival site for all to use. Borders Book Festival is Zero Waste Scotland compliant.
They installed a (very lovely!) public drinking-water station in Harmony Garden, and they encouraged festivalgoers to bring a reusable bottle to fill up during their visit. Reusable cups can also be purchased from the festival book shop.
Further, through their e-ticketing box office partner, a donation to tree planting is made with every ticket purchased. This means you help plant a new tree every time you purchase an event ticket!
SBCAN had a stall which showcased a number of excellent local projects and organisations over the weekend including Sustainable Selkirk, Greener Melrose, Eco congregations, Greener Duns, The General Store, Borders Seed Collective, Borders Forest Trust. We are very grateful for their support in making the stand happen!
