Borders Act for Change: Ednam Primary school
So impressed with all that Ednam Primary school have got done in February as part of Borders Act fr Change! Read on to hear about how they got on.
“We are currently creating a community garden in the grounds of Ednam Primary School. Our project is a long term one but the action we took as part of the Borders Act for Change was to arrange some afternoons to begin preparing the area for some planting and outdoor learning. We had 3 afternoons in February in February. The first was to plan/advertise our ‘Garden Day’, the second was to do a wildlife/plant survey of the area and the third was to invite members of the community to come and join us to start putting the plan into action. The project has involved the children in the school from the ELC to P4 along with their parents, grandparents and members of the local community. All these contributors were able to connect with nature as they began to re-wild the space for further use by all. One of our aims was to get the local community involved and engaged with the school to try and build links that had, perhaps, been lost during the Pandemic. This was achieved as we had several members of the community who have previously had no connection with the school involved in our project. We hope to now have regular ‘Garden Days’ where we can continue the project.”
