act for change: Interest Link kelso

“Interest Link Borders Kelso Allotment group made a raised bed to be more easily accessible to some members of the group so they can benefit from locally grown organic food too – both through growing and using the produce which will be grown in it. Our project reduces food miles, encourages diversity of plants (through using heritage varieties), reduces plastic packaging use as it replaces food bought in supermarkets and reduces the impact on the environment as we use no chemicals or harmful products when growing.

The age range of people who benefitted was 18 - 47 years.

The raised bed we’ve been able to build (using sustainable materials) will last for very many years and benefit a good number of individuals who access our befriending services.”
