SBCAN working with CEMVO

SBCAN are delighted to have been selected to work with CEMVO as part of their work plan for this year!

CEMVO Scotland is a national intermediary organisation and strategic partner of the Scottish Government Equality Unit.

Some information on CEMVO can be read below.

“Our aim is to build the capacity and sustainability of the ethnic minority (EM) voluntary sector and its communities. Since being established in 2003, we have developed a database network of over 600 ethnic minority voluntary sector organisations throughout Scotland to which we deliver a wide range of programmes that provide capacity building support to the sector. Please visit our “programme” page which provides more information about our areas of work and programmes past and present, which for example, include social enterprise support, leadership development and race equality mainstreaming support to the public and third sectors.

As a national organisation, we continually engage with the EM voluntary sector and its communities, which enable us to gather intelligence about the needs and issues affecting the sector. This helps our organisation to deliver tailored support to the sector, and to work strategically with public, statutory, and government agencies to tackle a range of prevalent issues such as race equality, social inclusion, capacity building and civic participation.”

Check out CEMVO’s Ethnic Minority Environment Network website.  The EMEN provides a platform for organisations and individuals willing to engage in mainstream environmental decision-making in Scotland, representing the voice of the EM sector. CEMVO Scotland supports the building of the Network’s capacity and leadership in order to successfully engage with discussions and developments concerning a sustainable future and promoting more inclusive policy processes.

SBCAN are really excited about the opportunity to be working with CEMVO. We look forward to the invaluable support that CEMVO will provide through training and knowledge sharing. Their expertise and resources will greatly enhance our capabilities, helping us to better serve our community and address key issues such as race equality and social inclusion. This partnership will enable us to learn from CEMVO's extensive experience and apply best practices in our initiatives, ultimately strengthening our efforts and impact within ethnic minority groups and organisations in the Scottish Borders.
